What is The Law of Attraction?
The Law of Attraction is referred to in many different ways depending on one’s perception. A scientist may prefer the term “Cause and Effect.” Buddhists may be more comfortable with the word “Karma,” others may have more of an affinity to a phrase like “You Reap What You Sow.” Whichever terminology you choose to use, the core of each of them is the Law of Attraction.

The first thing we must understand is one of the fundamental universal laws – the Law of Vibration.
Absolutely everything in the Universe is in a constant vibrational state, from the stars and planets in the Galaxy down to the tiniest grain of sand.
Everything around us seems so solid, so this can be hard to accept. If everything is vibration, why can’t I walk through walls?
The reason is that your brain is so smart and complex that it takes the vibrations that surround you and translates them into your reality.
For example, think about how you perceive color. You may remember learning in science class at school that color is just a vibration at a particular frequency. What about the sounds that you hear? They are just vibrations that your brain has translated to make sense out of them.
Everything is energy, constantly moving and vibrating. Everything that we can see, the people who surround us, the chair we’re sitting on, the trees outside our window. Even the things we cannot see, such as atoms, thoughts, and others’ thoughts, everything is energy and vibrates at certain frequencies.
Only when this first principle is understood can we then move on to the Law of Attraction.
Like Attracts Like
The primary rule of the Law of Attraction is that “like attracts like.” In essence, this means things with similar vibrational energy frequencies attract each other. Any two entities vibrating at the same frequency powerfully pull towards each other.
Considering our thoughts are also vibrational energy, it makes sense that we attract into our lives that which we focus our thoughts upon.
By controlling what we choose to focus on, we have the power to attract what we want into our life.
How the Law of Attraction Works
Like attracts like. If you feel excited, enthusiastic, passionate, happy, joyful, appreciative, or abundant, you send out positive energy.
The reverse is also true. If you feel bored, anxious, stressed out, angry, resentful, or sad, you send out negative energy.
The Universe will always respond enthusiastically through the Law of Attraction to both of these energy vibrations. Whether positive or negative, it doesn’t decide which one is best for you. It just responds to your energy you output. You always get back exactly what you put out there.
Whatever you think and feel at any given moment in time is your request to the Universe. It’s like asking for more of the same to be delivered.
Your energy vibrations will attract energy back to you of the same frequencies; it makes sense to continually send out energy, thoughts, and feelings that resonate with what you want to be, do, and experience.
If happiness, joy, and love are what you want to attract, vibrational frequencies of happiness, joy, and love are what you need to create.
Working With the Law of Attraction
Once you fully understand the Law of Attraction and how it works, you can consciously and deliberately start creating a better life.
By consciously choosing to respond differently to situations that arise throughout the day, you can choose to think differently and focus on the things you want more of in your life.
You can decide to experience more of the things that make you feel good and intentionally create the future you desire by carefully managing your thoughts and feelings.
Tuning into the Law of Attraction involves three steps: Ask, Believe and Receive.
1.) Ask for What You Want, Not What You Don’t Want
You are constantly sending out requests to the Universe in the form of your thoughts. Whatever you think about, read about, watch on TV, talk about, and give your attention.
Unfortunately, we often give our attention to random and not deliberate thoughts; we simply respond to situations.
You will attract more of whatever you give your energy, focus, and attention to, both wanted or not wanted.
Choose to become more deliberate about the thoughts you think and the way you feel.
To become more deliberate about the thoughts you put into the Universe, you will need to decide what you want but also practice feeling the corresponding emotions when you do.
Maybe you want to move to another place, or change your career, reach the top of the corporate ladder, or meet your soulmate.
- How would you feel once you reach your goals?
- What would you be doing daily?
- Who would you choose to spend your time with?
The more you can focus on things you DO want (as opposed to what you don’t want), the quicker you will be able to manifest your dreams and desires.
2.) Believe and Take Action
What does believing you will get what you want mean?
Believing means having a positive expectancy that what you have asked for will be delivered. You must understand and accept that you have put your faith in powers much greater than your own. It’s about deciding with complete certainty that what you want will 100% happen.
The majority of people have negative limiting beliefs which keep them from allowing abundance and happiness to manifest in their lives.
If this sums you up, realize that you must first eliminate the negative limiting beliefs that have been holding you back.
When you finally believe that you’ll get what you ask for, the second step is to take action.
Taking action required would create your desired outcome and affirm your belief that what you want and have asked for is within reach.
3.) Match What You Want Vibrationally
To receive that which you are asking for, you must become a vibrational match for what you want to manifest into your life.
The best way to match the vibration of what you are asking for is to focus on the positive emotions of joy, love, gratitude, and appreciation throughout the day.
You should also practice trying to feel the various emotions you would experience if you already had what you are asking for.
You can create these emotions directly through the thoughts that you are thinking. Your thoughts are creating feelings constantly, so it’s important to be very aware when your emotions feel negative and turn them positive.
As with just about everything, this takes practice and patience. The more conscious effort you put into attracting what you want, the easier it will become.

Positive affirmations are a wonderful tool to help solidify your positive beliefs. All the thoughts you have and all the words you say are affirmations. Your thoughts and words are very powerful declarations of how you perceive yourself and the world around you.

Affirmations work by slowly replacing negative beliefs and limiting ideas that you have accepted as your reality over the years. Positive statements declare who you wish to be and what you wish to experience in life.

A wonderful and active process for clarifying your long-term goals in life is to write down a list of goals and desires that you would like to accomplish during your life.
